North Hills High School Hands For Service and Student Council clubs are comprised of students in grades 9-12 interested in community service, promoting school spirit, and philanthropy. Over the last four years the students of HFS and SC clubs have raised over $40,000 for charitable organizations such as Make-A-Wish®, the Four Diamonds Fund and Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation. These dedicated students give up their time to help other people less fortunate.
The 2018 Monster Dash 5k will be run in memory of Jake Wudarczyk. Jake was a member of our North Hills High School family who passed away from cancer in 2016. He was a recipient of a wish from Make-A-Wish® that meant very much to him. So, during the 2016 inaugural race, Jake was adamant that he help with this Make-A-Wish® fundraiser. He wanted to give back to the organization that gave him so much. Jake was able to attend the race and his presence meant so much to his classmates and the other race participates. The smile on his face when he crossed the finish line was one no one will forget. Jake isn't physically with us any longer but his spirit will never leave us. It is for Jake that we continue this fundraiser again this year and it is only fitting that the Monster Dash 5k is now the Jake Wudarczyk Monster Dash 5k.
